About Sabreen Haj Ahmad

Biography

She holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts and a master's degree in intercultural communication, approached from a sociological perspective.

Sabreen primarily works with drawing and painting, while also experimenting with a variety of materials. She incorporates oral testimonies and forms of living archiving to reconstruct women's narratives around land, biodiversity, and identity. Her artistic and research practices focus on colonial environmental transformations, biodiversity loss, and how these forces intersect with Indigenous feminist knowledge.

Adopting anti-colonial and decolonial approaches, she seeks to re-center environmental knowledge rooted in Palestinian lived experience and native knowledge systems deeply tied to the land. She envisions liberatory ecological and social futures for Palestine and its Indigenous people.

Born and raised in Jenin and educated in Palestine, Haj Ahmad has exhibited her work both locally and internationally. Her art engages with environmental, gender, and political issues, offering a contemporary and critical visual language that weaves together nature, rooted knowledge, and resistance.
